New Metalocalypse fic: "What Is Wrong With Nature"

Nov. 30th, 2009 | 11:39 am
Soundtrack: "She Loves Everybody" Chester French

So I wrote a crack-tastic Metalocalypse fic featuring the anal-toothed sea cucumber. Behold!

Why there are no gay sea cucumbers

Oct. 30th, 2009 | 12:54 am
Mood: weird weird
Soundtrack: "Missing" Evanescence

Did you know there is a type of sea cucumber that has teeth in its butt just so nothing can swim up it? It's called (uncreatively) the Anal Toothed Sea Cucumber, and its anus looks a bit like what Jabba the Hutt tried to make Luke Skywalker jump into in Return of the Jedi. I was lucky (?) enough to see one of these while in Hawai'i. It's also called the Five Toothed Sea Cucumber, but I think the first name is better suited. Who cares how many teeth it has? Just imagine that lecture:

Prof: "Next we have the Five Toothed Sea Cucumber, named because it has five teeth."
Students: *snore*
Prof: "Oh, and the teeth are IN ITS ASS!"

Rocks + Dethklok + Zombieland = Crazy

Oct. 4th, 2009 | 11:40 am
Mood: confused confused
Soundtrack: "Black Fire Upon Us" Dethklok

Let me get the RL stuff over with first:

Yesterday was the busiest I've been in a while. I woke up around 10am to go to the Rock Barrel with my parents and got around $40 worth of rocks and beads as an early b-day present. Thanks Dad! I'll be turning 20 on the 10th, and I still don't know what I want to do for my party. :(

After the Rock Barrel I picked up Grant around 1pm and we went to the mall to get the new Dethalbum. I'm not much for death metal, but for Dethklok I'll make an exception. I'm really digging track 5, Black Fire Upon Us. So very awesome! I'm going to see them live on Nov. 11th. :D

I got home around 5pm and called my friend Liam, who I have a crush on and have been trying to get together with outside of school for a while. We ended up going to see Zombieland that evening, which was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while. Very twisted, but hilarious.

It was strange going on a date after being with Grant for over 4 years. I felt so shy and awkward, like a virgin all over again. After the movie we went back to his place and fooled around a little. No sex, but I'll spare you the details. It was exciting and a little embarrassing: again, I've only ever been with one guy, so everything seemed pretty new. There were lots of little differences, like his facial hair (think Pickles: fuzzy and Irish American).

Liam's a nice guy: smart, funny, and with a lot of the same interests as me. Right now what we have is pretty casual, but I'm a bit worried that I'll start to fall in love with him. I don't think I'm ready for love again, and he's not looking for it either. I've never been with a guy I didn't love, and I'm worried I can't separate my emotions from what we're doing. I have some time to think this over, though. It's only the first date, after all.

Enough of that, now for the fun stuff! Fanfiction updates: I now have 3 Metalocalypse plot bunnies in the works.

The first is entirely Hermes_Angel's fault, so blame the crack on her. Its working title is Nice Mister French Guy, and it tells the story of what Toki did in the time between running away from home and joining Dethklok. Namely, he was the decorated boy-toy of a French dandy, complete with dressing up at a girl in return for free food, a place to stay, and guitar lessons.

The second is inspired by the fic Once Upon A Time (whose Author escapes me...), in which as a child Skwisgaar dressed as a girl and competed in beauty pageants to earn his mother's affection. In my fic Skwisgaar developed a love of ballet at an early age, but gave it up when he became a full time musician. I'm still working out the bugs, like if his mother approved or if there will be any cross-dressing.

The last is inspired by a piece of artwork I need to look up again (damn my bad memory). The fic is called Looking For Love (In All the Wrong Places) and is about Skwisgaar trolling for GMILFs, but with little success. There's some mild slash with Toki at the end, but it's pretty fluffy. It was inspired by these two fan video:

Metalocalypse.

Despite liking the show, I've been resisting this fandom for several months. Looking back I'm not entirely sure why (other than the fact that the five of them might have one complete brain between them; too much stoopid in one room), but I can deny Dethklok no longer. Between Magic Rat's fanfiction and my friend Hermes_Angel's obsession with the boys, I decided, "What the heck! Might as well check it out." So I moseyed over to y!gallery to check out the smut...

Vampires Bash Twilight

Sep. 10th, 2009 | 10:56 pm
Mood: giggly giggly
Soundtrack: "The Lady is a Vamp" Spice Girls (wtf?!)

Found this on Tsuki no Rekuen's ff.net profile and had to post it because I'm tired of Twilight, and apparently so are vampires. Here are what some famous fictional ones had to say on the matter...  ^_^

From the Vampiric Council regarding Stephanie Meyer

Council Chambers
Association of Vampiric Activities Worldwide
1431 Wallachia Ave.
Sighisoara, Transylvania

From the Council Chambers of the Association of Vampiric Activities Worldwide

Regarding those of the Vampire race in the Cullen family and the now-former human Isabella Swan, with the following issues brought before Stephanie Meyer.

It has come to our attention that your creation's popularity among humans - particularly adolescent females - has been on the rise as of late. While we do respect those promoting our kind who achieve fame and glory, we nevertheless must hold you accountable for promoting several grievous misconceptions about our race.

Grievance the First: Lifestyle

It has been discovered through various interviews with readers and fans that you claim the following: Vampires do not sleep, breathe, or eat. Additionally, you state that Edward Cullen drinks animal blood to avoid biting humans. To begin, Vampires should generally sleep in a coffin containing the soil of their homeland. It is not a necessity, but it is highly recommended to preserve vitality. This is a fact that has been laid down since the time of our most ancient ancestor Ch'thon. The concept of not needing to breathe is foolish. Certainly the more powerful among us consider breathing a hobby, however a study of the Cullen family reveals that none of them are at such a level. The consumption of animal blood is something you are only partially correct on. It is common knowledge that nothing can surpass 100 percent genuine virgin blood in terms of performance enhancement. Animal blood works in emergencies, but fresh human blood - preferably virgin - is the status quo.

Furthermore, if our kind were to feed solely on animals with lower-quality blood, feedings would increase and it would cause potential instability in the planetary food chain and we could all very well end up extinct.

Grievance the Second: Method

Your portrayal of Edward Cullen in particular is a slight affront to our race. He is described using reference from the novels in the following way:

"Edward, like all Vampires in the Twilight series, possesses superhuman beauty, strength, speed, endurance, and agility. His scent and voice are enormously seductive, so much so that he occasionally sends Bella into a pliant daze entirely by accident."

Our abilities do vary, so thankfully the idea of Edward being a fast mover is not an affront to us. The rest of the description, however, we take exception to. While the idea of our race being a sexual one by nature is indeed true, Vampires are quite adept at restraint of libido. We remain unobtrusive as need dictates, and merely charming when appropriate. Methods of seduction are to be employed against humans only when a Vampire has reached a state of mental maturity. The idea that Edward - being so young mentally - practically radiates lust is ridiculous. If Isabella Swan is indeed swooning around one such as him, the cause is more than likely akin to a pungent smother than an aromatic caress.

A requested message from Proinsias Cassidy states that one need not "look like a total (expletive deleted) wanker t'get some (expletive deleted)." To express things more eloquently, we wish you would cease writing things in an apparent state of self-induced arousal.

Grievance the Third: Concerning Isabella Swan

As is most likely obvious by now, the brunt of our displeasure with you seems to focus on Edward Cullen. Also of concern to us is your handling of the human Isabella Swan. While member Seras Victoria points out that Vampires can indeed fall in love with humans, such likelihood seems to fade as the Vampire grows more accustomed to their lifestyle. The near-immediate conversion to a Vampiric state to further develop a relationship is permissible and indeed encouraged. Unfortunately in your story, it seems it takes most of the series before this happens.

By all rights, only a fresh Vampire would be so hesitant to turn the target of their affection to their kind, as they would still cling to humanity. You state that Edward has been alive since the early 1900's. He should have shed such a connection to Humanity by this time. Furthermore, Vampires are generally not driven to attempt suicide simply because of badly-handled romantic situations.

Grievance the Fourth: Concerning Power

Stated above, powers do vary within, and a Vampire's abilities may even change as they gain power and status.

Default Vampire powers are the following:
Increased strength
Increased speed
Enhanced senses
Telepathy
Familiars among the animal kind and limited shapeshifting of a related nature

Note that some Vampires may not possess these abilities, and some may possess others. Edward's current lineup of abilities is largely satisfactory, although we must state that no human is immune to a Vampire's telepathy. The idea of 'injecting venom into the heart' to convert a human to a Vampire is nonsense. Drinking a humans blood first renders them weak, and if a human is severely drained by a Vampire, only then do they themselves become a Vampire.

Additionally, the concept of Vampires having such varied powers among their own kind for the reason you describe is largely ridiculous. Vampires gain and perfect powers as they mature. Please realize that the varied capabilities of the Volturi are primarily telepathic in basic nature, and that the elementalist abilities of the Egyptian Coven's member Benjamin is more akin to the misrepresented nature of the so-called 'ninjas' of "Naruto" rather than the true abilities of any Vampire.

Furthermore, the idea of Vampires sparkling in sunlight is seen by us as truly nothing more than a foolish plot device. The most powerful of us are merely annoyed by sunlight, while the vast majority would - as member Proinsias Cassidy describes - "go up like six tons of Symtex."

Further Comments:

President Vlad Dracula would like to state that even if you were a virgin he would not drink from you, for it would only sully our race.

Member Proisias Cassidy's message has been removed due to generally inappropriate language.

Member Saya Otonashi commends you on including a character who wishes to become a Vampire, however she feels offended that such a character would change so swiftly and practically throw her character away when changing so.

Member Angelus advises that the next time Edward Cullen feels jilted in his love life, that he try to sort out the problem himself.

Member Louise de Pointe du Lac recalls his own experience in Human-Vampire relations and cannot help but wonder how Isabella might have fared if she had met Lestat.

Member Seras Victoria wishes she could sparkle in the sunlight too. She has been reprimanded.

Council Notes:

-We must commend you on the concept of the Volturi, although we find their policies regarding knowledge of our kind and dislike of Vampire children to be largely pointless.

-In anticipation of potential backlash regarding oddities among our own race, we wish to settle the following disputes here and shortly. First, concerning the unique nature of Vampires in Saya Otonashi's place of residence, human experimentation has muddled our kind their. The Chiropteran and Cavalier race are genetic deviants. Secondly, Proinsias Cassidy has quietly informed us that he had his fangs filed into normal incisors so as to avoid unwanted attention among humans. Furthermore, Louise de Pointe du Lac has commented on a new Vampire's need to bite and drink from the one who created them. This is not a necessary act and it has been concluded that this is an act done by some to give a Vampire their first blood until they are strong enough to feed themselves.

-In reference to your typical styles of romance, we have made contact with huntress Selene concerning her escapades with the Lycanthrope race.

-We are aware that the Count currently living on Sesame st. as well as Count Chocula do not conform to the standards set by the Council, however their actions and lifestyle are acceptable as they are useful for drawing in children.

-It is the esteemed belief of this Council that in cinematic portrayals of our race, Bela Lugosi and Tom Cruise make far better Vampires than Robert Patterson.

Sincerely,
Vlad Dracula, Count (President)
Proinsias Cassidy (Head of Human Relations Department)
Saya Otonashi (Deputy Head of Human Relations Department)
Angelus (Redemptions and Counseling)
Louise de Pointe du Lac (Chief Historian)
Seras Victoria (Head of Security)

Post-script: Should you happen to be in contact with the esteemed Mr. Richard O'Brien before we are, please remind him that Transylvania is not 'trans-sexual', and we have no record of 'sweet transvestites' living here. The tourists are becoming annoying.

Back to school and Hobbies update!

Aug. 25th, 2009 | 01:16 am
Mood: excited excited
Soundtrack: "In The Shadow of The Valley of Death" Marilyn Manson

Today was the first day of the fall semester. I think my first class, Introduction to Sociology, is going to be really fun. The teacher seems like a great guy who knows the material and (more importantly!) how to make it interesting. College Algebra, on the other hand, is going to be a test of patience. It's only been one day and I'm already bored. I'm looking forward to Ceramics in the morning, but English I'm unsure about. Hopefully I'll get to do some narratives and not just research papers.

Chapter 3 of "Hobbies" is done and posted! Yay, everybody dance now. Here's the link:

Rune Journal - Day 5. Raidho

Aug. 17th, 2009 | 01:22 am
Soundtrack: "Legal Assassin" Repo: The Genetic Opera soundtrack

Note: This entry is late as I did not have internet access. It was originally written on Aug. 14th.

Today's rune is Raidho. It's phonetic value is 'r', which is easy to remember because it looks like this:

Raidho translates as both wagon and riding, making movement the obvious meaning of this rune. In Viking times, travel was dangerous, wrought with bad weather and few roads. Journeys were long and arduous, going only as quickly as your horse or two feet could carry you. In this way, Raidho tests your endurance and dedication to reaching your destination. A second meaning of thunder is given to Raidho, taken from the thunderous sound of a galloping horse. Thunder is associated with Thor and oak, the tree most often hit with lightening, so oak wood is an appropriate choice to inscribe Raidho upon.

Raidho is the rune of motion, quests, and transition from point A to point B. It is both the means of travel and the journey itself. Historically, it has been used as a charm for travelers, and possibly as a guide for the dead to reach the afterlife. Taken less literally, it symbolizes the pursuit of goals, progress, the transference of energy, and rhythm. Because Raidho channels energy and information, it is also the rune of ceremony and ritual. Interestingly, Raidho has also been found inscribed on artifacts as shorthand for rune, so it especially embodies runic magic.

Today had a lot of travel. Woke up early when Mom told me my Granny was in the hospital with a sewing needle in her foot. Mom needed me to drive her to the hospital so she could take Granny's car home. Later in the evening I drove to Grant's, then drove to get dinner, so the day began and ended with driving.

Also, today was the beginning of a short musical journey. I'm spending the weekend at Grant's to we can go to the Mayhem music festival together and then crash as his place afterwards. Not much of a "journey," but as time spent away from home it counts in my book.

Rune Journal - Day 4. Ansuz

Aug. 13th, 2009 | 08:12 pm
Mood: frustrated frustrated

Todays rune is Ansuz. It's phonetic value is 'ah' as in the word hat and 'aw' as in call. It's one of two futhark vowels given the sound of the english letter 'a,' but it will be a while before we get to the other one. It looks like this:

Ansuz is related to the Norse word for gods, the Aesir, and so is generally translated to mean god. Specifically this rune is ascribed to Odin, and so Ansuz gains many of his attributes, including his wisdom, talent for poetry, and association with ash trees. The gift of poetry may not seem very impressive, but in a mostly illiterate culture where knowledge was passed down through oral tradition poetry was a big deal. Thus Ansuz refers to spoken word and the knowledge to be gained through communication, especially divine revelation. Taken more symbolically, the rune is the power of the gods to breathe life into the universe.

In magic, Ansuz is the rune of wisdom, understanding, communication, and insight. Coupled with ash wood and it's power is reinforced. In Norse culture the universe was built upon the ash tree Yggdrasil, so ash wood was thought to have special powers. Ash wood made tools more effective and magic charms more powerful.

Today was a day of writing and writer's block. I had to write and submit to the school newspaper a review for a movie screening I went to. It took longer than it should have, mostly because I had a word limit and wanted to include more. Often times I find it's more difficult to make things short and sweet. This rune summary was trouble, too. Ansuz seems to have a lot of different meanings because of Odin, like that stuff about the ash tree.

Friday and Satuday I might not be able to post. I'll be at Grant house and we're going to the Manson concert, but I'll have my runes with me and write journal entries to post when I get back.

Rune Journal - Day 3. Thurisaz

Aug. 12th, 2009 | 09:20 pm
Mood: procrastinating procrastinating

3 down, 21 to go. Today's rune is Thurisaz. It's phonetic value is 'th', as in the words 'thin' or 'thorn.' An interesting rune to English speakers, since the Roman alphabet has no direct equivalent. It looks like this:

Thurisaz means giant, one of the being of Norse legend with a bad attitude. Giants were the enemies of the gods and called 'torturers of women,' so at first glance Thurisaz has rather unpleasant associations. When we look closer, however, we can see that this rune works on many levels.

Thurisaz's secondary meaning is 'thorn,' which makes sense when you look at its shape. Thorns, while painful to sit on, are a plant's defense mechanism. In this way the rune takes on the positive aspect of protection from harm. It is also associated with the god Thor, defeater of giants, and his giant-smashing hammer Mjollnir. Thor was one of the few gods who could match a giant for brute strength, so Thor gives Thurisaz the power of strength and destruction.

In rune magic, Thurisaz symbolizes strength, protection, destruction of evil, and altering outcomes. It is said to have the power to summon demons, and when written in a sequence of three can alter the meaning of succeeding runes. Depending on the manner of use, it can be both a curse or a spell of protection.

Today I was plagued by something much smaller than giants, but more irritating: children. Lots of them. The oldest was 5, and I can't stand children too young to talk coherently, but too young to just sit there and wobble. They would be a lot more enjoyable if they had any concept of personal space and could sit still for 5 minutes. It was at a ladies lunch: a bunch of moms get together to tired out there kids, then when they fall asleep the adults all enjoy a meal at the hostess' house. I came along because one was my cousin Aimee, who I don't see very often. It was nice to see her, but her children I can only take in small doses.

Maybe I would have been more tolerant if I hadn't had Thurisaz in my pocket making me 'prickly.' I knew bringing that rune along today was just asking for trouble, but I'm not going to go out of sequence when part of this rune exercise it to learn the proper order. I was sorely tempted to pick another though...

Rune Journal - Day 2. Uruz

Aug. 11th, 2009 | 03:12 pm
Location: Barnes & Noble at the mall
Mood: chilly, it's cold in here! chilly, it's cold in here!
Soundtrack: whatever annoying lounge music CD they're playing over the speakers

Alright, day 2 of my rune education! Today's rune is Uruz. It's phonetic value is a long u like 'oo' and looks like this:

Uruz mean Auroch, the giant wild bovine our ancestors hunted to extinction. Julius Caesar described it as slightly smaller than an elephant, but resembling a bull in shape and color. This animal was solid muscle with horns that could gut a man. They were aggressive, easily provoked, and near impossible to domesticate. Killing an auroch was a great feat of strength and bravery to the Vikings, and the proof of your valor could be seen in your collection of trophy horns. That is, of course, if you don't die trying.

Uruz symbolized the primal power and virility of the auroch. It embodies the Viking concept of manhood: courage, strength, and perseverance. Used in magic it may also increase male sexual potency. In contrast to Fehu, the domesticated cow, aurochs were wild so Uruz can also mean freedom and the untamed spirit. It is a rune that should not be used carelessly, lest it wild horns come back to strike you.

I can't say today had a lot to do with strength or courage, but it was rather chaotic. I woke up later than I should have, then remembered I had to take Grant to a job interview in the afternoon. It went a bit longer than expected, and immediately after getting home I jumped into the car to go to a movie screening (it was Ponyo, more about that later). My aunt brought my cousin over so she could come along since I was allowed a guest. Then, because I'd never been to that movie theater before, my dad drove us there and back. Lastly, when the movie was over her dad came to take her home. Three divers in all for just one event. Good grief! And somewhere in the middle of all this I had to find time to make 7 layer dip for a thing tomorrow.

Like the rune Uruz, today was rather wild. Not exactly unpredictable, but difficult to manage.

Rune Journal - Day 1. Fehu

Aug. 11th, 2009 | 12:16 am
Mood: educated! educated!
Soundtrack: "Miserlou" as performed by the Raving Rabbids...

For those of you who don't know, I consider myself to be a witch. Not a very good one though, as 1) I know a lot of theory without practice, and 2) I'm kind of a magical jack of all trades, master of none ("A little tarot here, some herbs there, a dash of Egyptian gods for flavor...now what the heck did I just do?"). In an effort to correct that, I'm getting up off my metaphysical butt and actually doing something to help accomplish my goal of becoming a Rune Master. Since only 2% of you have any idea what I'm talking about, here's a brief explanation:

The runes in question are of Scandinavian origin and are called the Elder Futhark.

They appeared in this form around the 1st century and evolved into several different scripts used by the early Germanic tribes. It is both a script used to write down everyday messages and a magical system where each letter has a different meaning and power. According to myth, Odin hung from the World Tree for nine days and sacrificed his eye to learn the wisdom of the runes. He taught them to mankind, giving them the gift of writing and rune magic. The best as this were the Rune Masters, who were not only literate, but could use the runes to make talismans and tell fortunes.

When it comes right down to it, I'm really only good at two kinds of magic: crystal programming and rune casting. I'm fairly competent and get results with those, but I know I can do a lot better (for instance, stop having to dig out my reference books every time I do a rune casting because I forget what one meant). To help remember the many symbolic meaning behind each rune, I'll be carrying around a new one every day for a month.

Today's rune was Fehu. It's phonetic value is 'f' and looks like this:

Taken literally it means 'cattle,' which may not seem very useful today, but at the time owning cows was the greatest material wealth a person could have. Cows meant beef, milk, leather, and more: they could be traded with your neighbors for other goods. With that in mind, Fehu means money! This rune primarily deals with possessions, material gain, business transactions, and trade. It has the power to bring wealth, and the Vikings considered wealth to be a measure of a man's strength since back then you had to actively work for. ^_~ With strength come responsibility, so Fehu also is the rune of hard work and the burdens that come with money (taxes anyone?). As the first rune in the series, it can also symbolize beginnings. A pretty useful rune all around.

As it happened, today did deal a lot with money, hard work, and beginings. My goal for the day was to take Grant to North Lake so he could pay for his classes. It's almost the start of the school year, and pretty soon I'll be working hard to not fail math. Speaking of wealth, I put $10 worth of gas in my car, which pretty much wiped out my wallet. On the upside, Grant paid for snow cones. :D I got a peach one.

Cheer up!

Mood: drained drained
Soundtrack: That coffee jingle from Metalacalypse...

I few weeks ago my boyfriend of 4 years and I broke up. It was messy at first, but now things seem to slowly be getting better. We've been communicating through e-mail to get some things off our chest, and now with all the important stuff discussed we've been talking casually on the phone. We want to stay friends and on Friday we're going to see the new G.I. Joe movie, which he's been looking forward to since he heard about it. When he was little he wanted to grow up to be Cobra Commander. :)

Anyway, the past few weeks I've been keeping busy to help cope with the breakup. Seeing friends, writing, reading, going out, eating ice cream, and watching stupid YouTube videos all the effort to keep my spirits up. With that in mind, I would like to share of the things that never fail to make me giggle.

Oh, and while I'm here I thought I'd mention my newest plot bunny. I'll never write it, but I thought it would make a fun challenge. It came to me while reading “Psalms for the Fallen” by manic intent. At one point in the story Alucard reclaims his castle, kills the security guards, burns the touristy stuff, and terrorizes the locals. Integra throws a fit over it, but it's not exactly like he could have done it the legal way...then it occurred to me that that would be even funnier! And thus was born...(drumroll)

...Vlad III Dracula vs. the Ministry of Regional Development and Housing of Romania!

Here's the basic idea: Alucard returns to Romania only to discover his castle is now public property. Unfortunately, dead people can't own land, and how exactly does a 500 year old vampire prove his identity anyway? Sue the government, of course.

While procrastinating over "Starman," I finally completed a Vampire Hunter D one-shot I'd had in the works for a while.

Title: "Keepsake"
Author: Merytsetesh

Rating: G (wow, I don't think I've ever written anything this benign, seeing as how I mostly write yaoi)
Summary: Has anyone ever noticed the earrings D wears? They don't seem to be anything other than decorative, and D isn't the type to wear jewelry. The story of how they came into his possession. Plus, how he got the name D.

I got back from Hawai'i on Monday, but haven't felt like bothering to post until now. I'll give a more detailed account when I have the pictures my friends took.

A quick recap and a lesson in Hawaiian )

Pele

Jun. 8th, 2009 | 01:58 am
Mood: excited excited
Soundtrack: "Love Song for a Vampire" Annie Lennox

For Pele,

"I honor you, fiery goddess,
As a foreigner far from home.

Your children's blood flows not in my veins,
And I have never sung your po'okela,

But I desire to stand in your presence,
The earth's molten womb, and know you.

Watch over and grant us safe passage
As we travel the islands of your home."

... So here's to hoping I don't die in an "emergency water landing" (i.e. crashing in the fucking OCEAN). If my water logged body is never recovered, bury my rock collection instead.

Back in two weeks, everybody...

A-Kon and Hawai'i

Jun. 3rd, 2009 | 10:24 pm
Location: home, but not for much longer
Mood: frantic frantic
Soundtrack: "Kali Durga" Lokah

Last Sunday I finally made it out to A-Kon! I live less than half an hour away from the hotel they hold it at every year, yet this it the first time I've gotten to go. My boyfriend, bless him, offered to take me, despite the fact that he is allergic to anime nerds. I'm sure he hated every minute there, especially when I had to abandon him for a while to go in the dealer's room. Poor baby even had an upset stomach the entire time. :(

So much cool stuff! I had the most fun looking at the art for sale. Funny, I recognized some of it from DeviantArt, like this lovely lady, Neomonki, whom I bought some buttons from. :D Check her out: http://neomonki.deviantart.com/

Though I did not get the official A-Kon badge, I did get badge art. So next time I'm at any event that requires a clip-on badge, I'm gonna be rockin' my "Yaoi Fan Cid/Vincent" badge cover. XD Or maybe my "Holier Than Thou" Hellsing one with Alucard and Anderson. Tough choice! Scroll down to see both: http://www.scuttlebutt-inc.com/catalog.htm

Other art: To feed my super-villainess kick, I got a color print of Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. Total impulse buy, but worth it. Also, got a small print of Amaterasu from Okami. I LOVE that game, it hits all my buttons. 1) You play a wolf. 2) It's a wolf god. 3) It's a Japanese wolf god. So that's my favorite animal, combined with a nature deity, plus Japanese culture. Triple awesome.

Now to the other point of this post: On the 9th I'm leaving for, that's right, Hawai'i. For 2 weeks. I am both excited and frantic, because there is still a lot left to do. I'm going with North Lake's science department with around 20 other people to learn about Botany, Environmental Biology, and Geology. So far I've learned that I do not like Botany. At all. Geology, however, "rocks."

We'll be going to 3 islands, Hawai'i, Kaua'i, and O'ahu. More than any other part of the trip, I'm looking forward to climbing Mt. Kilauea to view the lava flows. This awe inspiring place is where the fire goddess Pele is said to reside. For me, going to Hawai'i is not just a school trip, it is a religious pilgrimage. The islands are one of the few places left in the world were a goddess is still commonly worshipped, and I am eager to see it for myself. Everyone who had gone before told me that Her presence is very tangible. Makes sense, since Kilauea has been steadily erupting for years now. Kinda hard to ignore a volcano goddess when you stand at the foot of an active volcano.

Lastly, a new clutch of dragons:

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

My boyfriend is a bloody lunatic!

May. 30th, 2009 | 05:05 pm
Mood: excited excited
Soundtrack: "The High End of Low" Marilyn Manson

Literally. Grant's now a model for a gothic blood fetish website called Bloody Lunatics, where all the models are bleeding. A guy he bumped into at a concert sent him the invite (not sure how they got on that subject...). When they asked him what he uses for blood, he answered, very confused by the question, "Blood...?"

Bloody Lunatics: "Oh, cool. What kind?"
Grant: "My own..."
Their response: "Huh? Oh! Most people just use fake."

Since he can't cut himself up for every photo shoot, he went ahead and ordered some fake blood off the internet, but for now all the pictures he's submitted to them are authentic self-mutilation.

I'm a little torn on the matter. On the one hand, the cutting isn't exactly healthy, but he doesn't do it very often thankfully. However, being asked to join this website has boosted his confidence about his appearance. He's a little self-conscious about his looks, but you'd never know it by looking at the photos. He's a sexy devil.

My baby has his own banner! Look how pale and creepy it makes him look. *melts*

Yes, that says Countejacula. He once did a no-budget, amateur porno by that name and it stuck. Also, his mouth is glowing red from the flashing mouthpiece he's wearing.
